Veterinarians play a big part in our society. There about two dozen veterinary schools in the country. There is competition for admittance into veterinary school is better steep. Veterinary schools in the United States graduate an average of 2,700 veterinarians each year. But not all become veterinarians; some go into other field that deals with animals and science. The median annual salary of a veterinarian is about $71,900. The large-animal veterinarians rank at the top of the veterinary pay scale. It’s a big responsibility to become a veterinary. You have to have the drive the passion for animals and science to become a veterinarian or in any field for that matter. I think that this career choice is pretty good. But not all the large-animals vets are in private practice. Some work for the universities, teaching and providing clinical services. And some work at the major meat factory companies. They study for four years to earn their degree in veterinary medicine. There is a decrease by 25% of veterinary doctors in the profession since 1990. Some worry about a national shortage of veterinarians to treat food producing animals, which could affect the whole nation.
